Carload Express commences Positive Train Control initiative for Allegheny Valley Railroad.

Carload Express reactivates, operates and maintains a 13-mile line in the Ohio River valley that had been out of service for 12 years, as the Ohio Terminal Railway.

2011

SWP begins serving Fayette Rail Freight terminal in Smithfield, PA now operated by Hi Crush Partners. The terminal pioneered unit trains of frac sand in the Marcellus Shale play and remains the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania.

2008

AVR begins multi-year, $10 million renovation of Glenwood Yard switching operations in Pittsburgh.

2006

Carload Express relocates company main office in Oakmont, Penn.

2006

Allegheny Valley Railroad restores and begins interchange service with the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway at Bruceton, Penn.

Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad begins serving the new Hunter Panels manufacturing plant at Fairchance, Penn., in the Fayette Business Park, restoring daily service to the south end the railroad.

2004

Allegheny Valley Railroad repairs and restores 7 miles of P&W subdivision after sustaining $3.2 million in damage from Hurricane Ivan.

December, 2003

Allegheny Valley Railroad expands north and west with 43 miles of former CSXT operations on the P&W and W&P subdivisions in western Pennsylvania.

2001

Allegheny Valley Railroad connects with CSXT and begins interchange with CSXT at Glenwood Yard in Pittsburgh, Penn.
