All Four Carload Express Railroads Receive ASLRRA Jake Safety Awards for 2025

The Allegheny Valley Railroad, Delmarva Central Railroad, Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad, and Maryland and Delaware Railroad have again been listed among 2025 Jake Safety Award recipients by the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA).

ASLRRA presents the Jake Awards to member railroads whose employee injury frequency, based on Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) reporting for the prior year, is better than the Class II and III industry average. The program is named for the late Lowell S. “Jake” Jacobson of the Copper Basin Railway; background and criteria are on ASLRRA’s Jake Safety Award page.

For 2025, ASLRRA reports a continued decline in the group injury rate used for comparison, which it publishes alongside eligible railroad metrics in its annual employee on duty safety materials.
