Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad
Created in 1995, Southwest Pennsylvania (SWP) is owned by Westmoreland
and Fayette counties, and operated by Carload Express as part of a long
term operating agreement. SWP operates 66 miles of track, running from
Greensburg, PA. through vibrant towns such as Youngwood, Scottdale,
Connellsville, and Uniontown to its southern terminus at Smithfield.
SWP is situated at the confluence of the region’s major highways,
which allows shippers to utilize the new Westmoreland
Rail Freight Terminal (operated by Safe Handling, Inc.) to transfer
their goods from truck to rail for delivery as far way as the eastern
seaboard. This combines the advantage of long haul rail economics with
the flexibility of truck delivery to your door. Contact our marketing
and sales staff to find out more about how SWP can serve your needs.
